Members/Volunteer Appreciation Party & Postcard Drive!

****** The following is a transmission we received from a mysterious source who would only call herself A.W. Worried this initialed enigma sought Hand Eye’s complete destruction, we inquired as to her identity. In return, we received a single word response: “BUNNYSTEAK.” Time will only tell if this secretive individual will reveal herself…word has her presence will soft launch in the weeks to come. *****

Hello beloved volunteers and members! First off, we want to thank you all for being super awesome. Without you, we wouldn’t be able to do all the stuff that we do: From helping to fund amazing initiatives like our Camp Make-A-Game for kids in underserved neighbourhoods and the downtown core (wrapping up this week with very positive feedback so far!) and allowing us to go the extra mile for special programs like the Curious Cabinets Arcade Exhibit, as well paying our lovely staff to coordinate programs and write this very newsletter, every dollar you send our way makes a huge difference. And it’s through the hard work of our volunteers that all of our programming, including Comics x Games, WordPlay, the Hand Eye Society Ball and our upcoming events at the Waterfront and the CNE run smoothly and are inclusive to people of all ages and backgrounds.

To extend our thanks, we want to show our appreciation with a Volunteer and Member Appreciation Social!

Volunteer and Member Appreciation Party

When: 6 p.m. – 9 p.m.August 20, 2017
Where: It’s a secret 😉 Those invited have been emailed!

There will be food and drinks for you, on us. Come and hang out with the HES staff and community. We will have fun, music, and games! Please RSVP here to let us know if you’re coming, and let us know if you have any dietary restrictions or allergies we should know about.

If you think you should have paid or volunteer member status and are wondering why you didn’t get an invite, hold off on turning Maleficent and email volunteer@handeyesociety.com with written credentials of your volunteering in 2016-2017 for some ~rectification activation~ –if you’re a Paying member, we’ll check your Paypal subscription. On the other hand, if you know in your heart of hearts that you’re not qualified for a volunteer membership but want to crash the party anyway, fear not!

We will be running our first annual Postcard Drive as a volunteer opportunity for folks wanting to attend the party, rack up those 10 hours, or just to spread the good word in the outdoors. Folks will meet at Trinity Bellwoods to gather and group up (we don’t want you to be lonely) before embarking on a hopefully exciting journey around different Toronto neighbourhoods, spreading the word of our organization with our handy-dandy & very informative postcards. We will be providing TTC tokens so that you can travel long and far but can also come back just in time for the Volunteer and Member Appreciation event (if you want!). We also will provide maps of suggested areas to travel around to if you aren’t sure which areas you should visit.

So there you have it. A.W. alleges the postcard drive will disclose the locations of every single Starbucks in the city and make for a scenic afternoon, but is that the truth? Who knows? Mosey on over and let us know :O
