Job Title: Operations Manager

Salary: $25/Hr

As a key member of the Hand Eye Society (HES) team, and reporting directly to the Executive Director, this position oversees the day-to-day operations, administrative functions, and leads the project management of ongoing work. Working collaboratively with the Programming team, the Operations Manager ensures alignment between HES activities, partner deliverables, and our mandate to deliver high-quality opportunities that meet the local game community’s needs. This position also contributes to implementing strategic priorities and meets with community partners and stakeholders as needed.
This position is part-time (80 hrs/month) from February – September, with the option for full-time hours (40/week) from October to mid-November during the festive season. Hand Eye Society works remotely and within a flexible working schedule. We require staff to attend weekly team and project meetings and be available to work onsite during festival events.
Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain operational and administrative processes, including any relevant software and documentation
- Manage administrative pathways, data and resource pulling, and industry research
- Assist in planning and executing operational goals such as festivals or community initiatives by coordinating with other staff, volunteers, and members;
- Work with Executive Director and Hand Eye Society staff to plan long-term goals in regards to new partnerships and initiatives;
- Working with the Artistic Director to plan, execute, and follow up with staff to stay on track for programming goals
- Help manage and coordinate volunteers alongside other staff for programming.
- Foster artistic relationships through community connections and representation of Hand Eye Society at artistic events
- Communicate artistic deadlines, curation and submission guidelines, and answer artist questions through online channels for artistic programming
- Build, maintain, and communicate Super FESTival critical path, deliverables, artistic deadlines, and tasks
- Maintaining relationship data of partners and stewardship activities and reporting requirements in a CRM database
- Acquire and maintain sound knowledge and understanding of the organization including all projects and programs funded by the organization;
- Support communications efforts through writing copy for newsletters and supporting social media engagement/content development
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES:
Assets for this role include, but are not limited to:
- Based in Toronto (preferred) or the GTA
- Two or more years of proven success in an operations management role
- Experience in the Canadian arts or non-profit sector, or in the video game industry
- Strong skills in budget management and oversight
- Excellent ability to delegate responsibilities while maintaining organizational control of organizational operations and customer service
- Proficiency in conflict management and business negotiation processes
- Knowledge of business productivity software and an aptitude for learning new applications
Preferred skills and qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in project management, business administration, or related field
- Working knowledge of management software programs, including Monday.com, Google Workspace, and WordPress
- Strong IT skills, including database development
- Multiple years of administrative experience
