Edgar Rice Soiree
Creators: Douglas Wilson / Adam Henriksson / David Kanaga / Thomas Perl
Website: https://thp.io/2012/tarzan
CANADIAN PREMIERE
One of the highlights of last year’s Fancy Videogame Party was Johann Sebastian Joust. This year its co-creator Douglas Wilson will be in attendance running another physical game with a tongue-challenging title. Named after the creator of Tarzan, this game of awkward body contact involves navigating a “jungle” via 20 Move controller vines dangling from the ceiling!
Lovers In A Dangerous Spacetime
Creator: Asteroid Base (Toronto, Canada)
Website: http://www.loversinadangerousspacetime.com
A long-time favourite on the Toronto indie gaming circuit, Lovers has up to two players working together to operate a bright pink spaceship, on a quest to save their universe from extra-dimensional peril! Fluorescent space-bunnies, neon enemy ships, and cosmic boss battles conspire to charm their way into your heart, even as the frantic multitasking action lights up the screen with laser fire.
Push Me Pull You
Creator: House House (Melbourne, Australia)
Website: http://pmpygame.com
UNRELEASED
Less disturbing than it sounds, PMPY is a two-versus-two sport in which you and your partner control opposite ends of a single worm-like body, and must wrestle the other human-worm-thing for control of the ball. You can stretch and shrink if you want to, but you can’t leave your friends behind.
N++
Creator: Metanet Software Inc. (Toronto, Canada)
Website: http://www.nplusplus.org
A physics-based platformer whose punishing, exacting gameplay has been honed to perfection over the course of a decade. Silky smooth physics paired with a striking visual aesthetic will put you in the flow zone, every time — at least until you misjudge that deceptively simple minefield leap, leaving your rivals free to go for the gold.
PaperDude
Creator: Globacore (Toronto, Canada)
Website: http://www.globacore.com/paperdude-vr
A high-tech take on an old classic. Put on your Oculus Rift headgear, warm up that Kinect, and hop on your exercise bike; those newspapers won’t deliver themselves! This virtual reality experience plays like a blocky dream-memory of the ‘80s arcade game Paperboy.
Techno Tarot
Creators: Kara Stone / Cecily Carver (Toronto, Canada)
Website: http://karastone.itch.io/techno-tarot
Let your past, present and future be laid bare under the piercing electronic gaze of the Tarot Bot! Getting your destiny foretold has never been more convenient with this digitally automated fortune-teller. At the Society Ball it will be present as a physical pack of cards, shuffled and cold-read for you by mysterious entities…
