As you know from our previous announcements, one of the exciting formats we’re trying with the writerly games WordPlay Festival on Sat. Nov 16th is a book club-style discussion of the magical realist point-and-click adventure game, Kentucky Route Zero (screenshots below). Not only are the creators Jake and Tamas nice enough to come from Chicago to participate, but they’ve given us 20 free copies of their game.

Pledge to Play it With A Non-Gamer Friend: It’s a beautifully haunting, funny, and strange game — and only takes about 2 hours to play through the first two acts. It will not be what a non-gamer friend expects, and that’s a good thing!

Pledge to Submit a Question for the Discussion: We want thoughtful questions for these thoughtful artists. No questions that are actually statements about you in some way, or questions on how you break into the game industry. Let’s kick up the level of discourse around games, folks!

Volunteer for the WordPlay Festival: We want to be able to steer people towards a game, workshop, or panel they might like. With a venue as large as the Toronto Reference Library, that means we need to have a lot of nice volunteers. Don’t worry, you’ll also have time to enjoy the festival!
